If the linux box is running at as a VBox Guest with Fedora/CentOS or any RedHat based distro, then the default configuration of the kernel (namely clock timings) will mean even at idle the VBox will consume ~15% CPU of the host. The easiest fix for this is to just add divider=10 to the kernel line in grub. Twitter Posted Here.
